This was my 1st meet on August 23, 2014 at Village Gym in La Mesa, Ca. Ive only been with Gladiator Strength & Training gym for only 3 months. Although I have a long way to go, I have never been so excited about lifting weights before. I have a great coah who is always “functional” in everything he does, the gym atmosphere is always supportive and gym owners who take the time to speak and engage with their clients.
I hit my PRs at this meet with Bench press 175lbs, Squat 300lbs and Deadlift 350lbs.
My goal by this time next year: Bench 300lb Squat 400lb Deadlift 500lb
Front squats are my weakness. I have tights quads and calf muscles where my heels come up off the floor. I will work more on my squats and one day, I’ll get it down.
I wear high top converse when I lift because it is flat on the bottom of my feet and besides, I gotta save up for weight lifting shoes. Those things are pretty pricey. Sometimes I just lift with just socks on to take it back to basics.
To say life has thrown me a few curve balls would be understatement. Some because of my own making others do to life simply happening. Life is giving me a second chance after illness and I want to make the most of it. I would like to take classes at the local culinary arts school as a pastry chef…
